A few days ago I got mailed a complementary copy of a documentary film called 'Autism, Made in the USA'. There is some really interesting information in it, and some of it goes beyond autism and into other aspects of health.

Just started watching some of the show 'Merlin' on NBC. Wow it SUCKS.
If they called it 'random mish-mosh of fantasy/medieval/anachronistic stuff show' it still wouldn't be too watchable but at least it would be more telling.

8:23 pm - Break ins.
|
So there has been 3 or 4 break-ins in my neighborhood in the last few weeks. This is VERY uncommon. In the 33 yrs my family has lived in this neighborhood, I can think of MAYBE a handful of break-ins during that time.
They have broken into houses during the day when they think noone is home. Because I wake late, I may be home if they ever try to break into my house. I realize that all of my useful weapons are not that useful in close quarters. I do have a few knives, but I am not that practiced in fighting with a knife. So right now I have a short staff near my bed. Well its too short to be a staff, so I guess its more of a stick. What I really need is a sharp short-sword, since its a bit hard to get a recurve bow strung in time, a claymore is too long, and I am not interested in a gun right now :)

4:01 pm - Switch

I havent talked much with other switches about how it is for them, but for me sometimes I oscillate between things so much its kind of disorienting.
I don't know many of the things that push me one way or the other. Its also weird to want to interact with someone as a dominate one day (hell even 1 minute) and then want to be submissive to them the next. My default outward demeanor is slightly dominate, so people see me as that so I think it would be weird to suddenly act submissive towards them, even if I want to at that time. My dom part also often sees my expressions of submissiveness as being weak, so its hard for me to act sub when there are people around I do not want to be sub to.
I have no idea how I switch between giving and receiving pain. I actually think I always want both at the same time. The only thing I can think of is seeing fangs or blood moves me into the area of wanting to bite/draw blood.
In communities I have always seen meetings for doms, and others for subs, meetings for sadists, and meetings for masochists, and they are all usually willing to have switches attend but I never see anything specifically for switches. I really think how we see and feel things is a bit different from any of the above, and it would be nice to get together and talk about it.
I started thinking about this because I have a friend who tends to put herself in a mommy role for people (a dominate position), and I have always dealt with her on an equally dominate level. Lately I have been feeling like I want to be taken care of a bit. Part of me wants to go to this person and let her mommy me, but my dom side thinks 'no way, I don't want to be stuck in a submissive role to her, so just suck it up' and my sub side thinks "no fair! *cry*'.

It always makes my day better when all my patients for the day are a pleasure to deal with :)
Been starting to read 'Radical medicine' by Dr. Williams. It is a huge volume, but its very good so far, even the introduction.

Fucking awesome! man, what a great day it way! So many things were soo good. Having FOUR people involved with making/doing REPO! at our shows was great.
Our shows rocked. Having hundreds of people cheering for you is just about the best thing in the world.
I will try to talk about details later. I just got home 20 mins ago so it is time I try to calm down enough to get to sleep.

Over the weekend, I met someone, and the end of on one of our interactions went like this:
Her: "I kinda wanted to say something to you"
Me: "what is it?"
her: "oh. I can't tell you"
me: "well now that you said that, you HAVE to" (thinking 'my gods, what is she going to say?')
after another one or 2 comments from me and the 3rd person in the conv:
her: "well you will probably think it is an insult..."
me: "I don't care, what is it?"
her: "you look just like a handsome version of michael jackson."
I just about fell down laughing. That is one of the weirdest comparisons I have ever heard.

"Oh, death always comes in thress" "bad news always comes in threes" "these things happen in threes" "Farts always comes in threes" "dog drool always comes in threes", etc.
Always in threes? really? Or maybe it only seems to happen in threes because that is the only time you notice it...I never heard anyone say 'hey, this time it only happened in twos' or 'it happened in fours this time' etc.
Ok, my rant was funnier here at BLA in-person.

Today I had a new patient tell me that "Your intake form is very insulting to patients. You need to learn how to ask more appropriate questions to patients".
The questions she was most insulted by were "what are your long and short term expectations", "on a scale of 1 to 10, how committed are you to making lifestyle changes to support your health", "who in your life can support you in your attempts to improve health", and "what lifestyle choices do you make that you think support your health, and what do you think hinders your health".
I would say now I have seen it all, but I so know that isn't true.
